About
Privacy help from someone who lives it.
I’m Jeremy. I help people, families and small businesses take back control of their digital lives, one practical step at a time.

Why PAN exists
The tools to fight back exist. Most people need someone to show them how.
I started Privacy Action Network because I kept seeing everyday people, families, small business owners and regular humans, being exploited by systems built to extract their data.
Finding out how much is collected, and how data brokers trade it, opened my eyes. When a tool is free, you are the product.
Many of the best fixes are free for a different reason: they’re open source, built in the open. What’s missing is someone who’ll sit down with you, break it down so it makes sense, and help you change it. That’s what I do.
Why I do this.
I’m a tech person. I love it, I live it, and I like helping other people with it. I spent 2024 and 2025 researching digital ID and digital privacy, and working out what my own family needed to do. Privacy Action Network is what that became.
I want to help change the world towards technology that is local first and private. And I want that to bring people closer to their local community: the tech and the people.
It isn’t only something I teach. I help run the Trafalgar Farmers Market, I’ve helped set up community gardens, and at home we garden and eat what we grow. So the self-reliance side of the framework is how I live, not a theory.
This isn’t about going off-grid.
Privacy is a spectrum, not an all-or-nothing choice. You don’t need to disappear from the internet or become a tech expert. You need to move from where you are now to somewhere meaningfully better, and keep going.
Who you’re dealing with
I’ve always been the one who makes the tech work.
I studied professional game development after school, specialising in game art. I’ve worked in systems and administration roles for large organisations, planned maintenance and interstate logistics among them, which is where I learned how systems fit together and where they sit in a business. I’ve also spent a couple of years in a creative role: filming, editing, CAD and laser cutting.
I’m the family’s tech person too: building PCs, sorting out printers and Wi-Fi, 3D printers, websites and now apps. I kept my distance from AI when it arrived, and I’ve spent the years since learning it properly.
Day to day I run my own computers and servers, a GrapheneOS phone, a password manager, Proton’s suite for email and files, and backups.
People I’ve helped
- Moving from Windows to Linux
- A laptop set up for privacy
- Printer problems and everyday tech support
- Devices cleaned up and secured, and older ones made faster
- A community hub’s bookings, website and marketing
- Websites and marketing for local small businesses
- A private app for a client, built end to end
One laptop I set up on Linux Mint is still working well for its owners, and they love it.
What I believe
Six things that shape how I work.
Privacy is action
Reading about privacy changes nothing; doing one thing does. Everything I do ends with a clear next step.
Start where you are
Wherever you are now is a good enough place to start. A 20% improvement is 20% less exposure, and waiting for perfect means never starting.
Local first
Keep things as close as the job allows: on your own device, at home, or with people you know. What has to sit further out gets shared less, locked, or kept apart.
Facts, not fear
Surveillance is documented, not a theory. I stick to what’s true, and to what you can do about it.
Community beats going it alone
One person on Signal is fragile. Thirty people sharing tools they run themselves are resilient.
Digital and physical, together
You can’t be fully private if your food, energy and money all depend on systems you don’t control.
How I work
Promises you can hold me to.
No call centre, no hand-offs
Your enquiry is read only within PAN, never by a call centre or an outside service. From the plan to the finished job, you deal with me.
A clear outcome first
Before anything begins we agree where you’re starting from, what done looks like and how we’ll get there. If I don’t think I can get you there, I won’t take the job.
Broken down, with the why
I break down what I’m changing and why, so it makes sense and you can keep it that way.
Only what I need
Short forms that don’t keep your IP address, and full-audit answers deleted once your report is done.
Private by default
Private video calls on Proton Meet, and screen sharing you watch and can end at any time.
No trackers, no upsell
This site runs no advertising or tracking scripts, and every job starts with a plan and a quote.
The framework
You can do all of this with or without me.
The framework breaks privacy into parts, so it’s simpler to see what’s exposed and what to learn and work on next. All of it is learnable. It takes time, persistence and a purpose, and without the purpose you won’t stick with it.
The problem is clear enough: acting on our privacy, at every scale, matters for our futures, our families and our communities.
Everything I do follows it: nine technology layers, seven trust protocols, five scales and seven self-reliance layers. It keeps the advice honest, and in the right order.
